This house is owned by a local business person who does a terrific job improving her rental properties with a careful eye to the original style of each building. This Victorian (correct me if I am wrong about the style) house on Chess St. is an example. The porch roof recently underwent extensive repair by a reputable local roofing company. I’d venture to say that most landlords would have torn off the porch because it is “just rental property”. This owner has taken care to restore the porch so that it now looks very close to how it would have appeared when originally built.

Most Victorian frame houses have been covered with aluminum or even worse, covered with plastic siding and thus have lost their charm. I think the owner of this house deserves an award for caring enough to restore this house to it’s original condition.
